KAMIJO Relocates to LA, Captivates U.S. Audience with First Solo Show

KAMIJO’s first performance since relocating to Los Angeles, the KAMIJO Signature U.S. Debut Show “Sanctus of the Damned,” was held at The United Theatre on Broadway.

Inside a venue dressed in Gothic decor, a bell tolled eight times to signal the start of the show. As the crowd cried out “Vive le Roi,” KAMIJO emerged onstage. Opening with his solo debut single “Louis Enketsu no La vie en rose (Artelier Rose),” he followed with the aesthetically rich “Sonata” and “Bara wa Utsukushiku Chiru (Roses Fall Beautifully),” immediately drawing the audience straight into KAMIJO’s world from the very first moments.

As the low end swelled and the SE “Delta” played, the set flowed seamlessly into “Castrato,” a track that fuses cinematic Hollywood-style orchestration with rock. The set continued to highlight the range of KAMIJO’s musical influences, moving effortlessly from the metal-and-EDM hybrid “Conspiracy” to “HEEL,” which weaves the passionate rhythms of the tropics into Japanese-style melody.

Among the evening’s most striking moments was a succession of lyrical ballads: “Dakishimerarenagara (While Being Embraced),” “Unmei (Destiny),” and “Romantique.” Watching his soaring, emotionally charged vocals carry these bittersweet, distinctly Japanese melodies, one could almost feel them land in the hearts of the American audience. It was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the night.

The main set concluded with fan-favorite live staples including “Yamiyo no Lion (Lion of the Dark Night),” “Vampire Rock Star,” “The Anthem,” and “Nosferatu.”

Returning for the encore, KAMIJO shared stories offering a glimpse into his new life in Los Angeles, delighting the crowd. He then performed beloved favorites including “mademoiselle,” “Fuyu Tokyo (Winter Tokyo),” and “SHADOW OF OSCAR,” before delivering the exquisite ballad “Kono Yo de Ichiban Utsukushii Bara yo (The Most Beautiful Rose in This World),” a heartfelt song dedicated to his fans. The night reached its emotional and exhilarating finale with “NOBLESS OBLIGE.”

Drawing on metal, rock, and a wide range of musical genres, this was above all a concert that shone a spotlight on KAMIJO’s true calling as a melody maker.

The sight of American fans utterly captivated by KAMIJO’s romantic songwriting spoke volumes about the success of this U.S. debut.

Who else could stand on an American stage and sing melodies this lyrical and this unapologetically emotional? This is a world that only KAMIJO can create.

For an artist who now calls Los Angeles home, this show was far more than a successful U.S. debut. How far can J-Rock and J-Pop reach in America? KAMIJO may well become one of the key figures in answering that question.

[BIOGRAPHY] KAMIJO

Raised in a musical household with an electronic organ instructor mother and a piano teacher grandmother, KAMIJO’s early exposure to music shaped his artistic identity.

In 1999, he made his major label debut as the vocalist of LAREINE with the Sony Music single “fiançailles.” Known for emotionally resonant melodies and striking visual expression, he deepened his signature emphasis on narrative and beauty through a collaboration with Riyoko Ikeda, creator of The Rose of Versailles, who described KAMIJO as “Oscar herself,” the iconic protagonist of the series.

KAMIJO is also recognized for building immersive worlds through music and performance. His stage productions offer a cinematic experience that feels as if it has stepped out of anime or video games, blurring the line between reality and fiction. Layered storytelling, historical mystery motifs, and theatrical direction combine to create a one-of-a-kind sense of immersion.
