FISHMANS is a legendary Japanese band known for their reggae, dub and rocksteady-based sounds. Their music continues to be loved by musicians, producers, new generations of listeners, and vinyl lovers around the world—even in the 21st century.
Their eight CD singles, from their 1991 debut “Hikoki” on VIRGIN JAPAN to their final single of the Media Remoras era “MY LIFE” released in 1994, have now been carefully curated into an analog vinyl box set by leader Kin-ichi Motegi (currently a member of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra). The artwork was designed by original member (currently a designer) Kensuke Ojima, and all eight 45RPM singles were cut by UK-based engineer Dave Turner.
FISHMANS’ first-ever 7inch Vinyl × 8 Single Box (45RPM) will officially be reissued on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as part of Record Day 2025 – Day 2.

In recent years, FISHMANS have received the highest ratings for a Japanese artist on Rate Your Music, the world’s largest music review site, and have gained passionate support from music fans across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Additionally, the band will perform for the first time in Taiwan on October 11 (Sat) and October 12 (Sun) at Legacy Taipei. Tickets for the October 11 show are already sold out, heightening excitement for their rapidly growing global influence.

FISHMANS is a one-of-a-kind band known for their ever-evolving sound, transparent vocals, tight rhythms, and deep grooves that defined the 1990s. After the sudden passing of vocalist/songwriter Shinji Sato in 1999, the band was forced to go on hiatus. However, driven by the passion of leader Kin-ichi Motegi, they restarted music activities in 2005 and continue to perform Sato’s songs as “music of the now.”
Their sound, rooted in reggae, dub, and rocksteady while incorporating rock, funk, and hip-hop, and their lyrics—full of beauty and sorrow—have influenced countless musicians and producers. Since their catalog was made available on streaming platforms, their music has captivated a global audience of discerning listeners.
